Ministry Opportunities
Practical ministry is another key component of the LXP curriculum, and each student is exposed to all of the ministry opportunities available through the program. As the students discover their personal passions and gifts, they are then slotted into one or two of the specific ministries, where they continue to serve throughout the duration of their training. Under the supervision of an LXP staff member, small groups of the students called ministry management teams are formed in order to run and manage the various ministries. The ministry component is a very integral part of LXP. Hands-on training and life skills are modeled and facilitated for the students at the same time that real needs are met, real people are touched, and real change and ministry is carried out to the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Community Door to Door
Evangelism and prayer support is offered to many households in the community. LXP students readily win the hearts of people in the community as relationships are built with local families. Many people have come to put their trust in God during these door to door outreaches.
Home Visitations
Home based care support is offered by LXP students for the chronically ill. Lasting relationships have been established with many needy and sick people in their homes within the community. LXP regularly offers moral and spiritual support to the patients and their families.
Youth Discipleship
Young people from the community come together on a regular basis for programs led by LXP. These youth are then encouraged to participate in corporate worship and Bible studies for their spiritual upliftment and growth. LXP students seek to walk a path with kids in the community as mentors and models on values and life skills.
Community Construction
LXP students seek to meet felt needs within the community by participating in general renovations and reconstruction work at community centers and individuals’ homes. The students participate in painting, community cleaning schemes, and small reconstruction and building projects.
School Outreaches
Students are trained to facilitate teachings on biblical values and positive life skills in schools throughout the Eastern Cape. This is primarily in conjunction with UCSA fellowships in the various school branches. This ministry is conducted by the students on a regular basis.
Beat the Drum Campaigns
This is a community HIV/AIDS faith-based abstinence campaign. The outreach is divided into 3 different tracts—children, youth and adult tracts—in order to reach the community as a whole. Individuals from the community are encouraged to go for voluntary counseling and testing, and a biblical values-based lifestyle is promoted as the answer to prevent HIV/AIDS.
